Join theatre artist and educator Gabriela Petrov for a full body exploration.

The Viewpoints is a physical training method that helps artists connect with and express their full creative potential. In this workshop, participants will be guided through the Viewpoints approach in a full-bodied way to explore how it can support their own unique artistic practice. The Viewpoints approach can be applied by performers, directors, designers, and writers. Anyone interested in engaging their body and deepening their awareness will find value in this workshop.

In this workshop, participants will gain…

-        deeper spatial awareness

-        stronger improvisational movement skills

-        compositional tools that support the creation of dynamic performance work

-        a physical and conceptual understanding of an internationally recognized and practical approach to performance

Participants must wear comfortable clothes and are asked to participate barefoot.
If that is not an option, please bring indoor shoes.

  • Gabriela Petrov is a theatre artist and educator based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal.

    She teaches Viewpoints to undergraduates as a Part-Time Faculty member at Concordia University.

    She has over a decade of training and practice in the Viewpoints approach to performance and studied under the mentorship of several teachers including Leslie Baker, Deborah Black, Anne Bogart and Wendell Beavers. She graduated from Naropa University’s MFA Contemporary Performance program with a focus on Viewpoints practice and pedagogy.

    She also specializes in Somatic practices and is currently working through Esprit en Mouvement’s Body-Mind Centering® program towards certification as a Somatic Movement Educator.

    Gabriela recently co-founded a working group of international artists and educators to explore how the Viewpoints approach can support the values of equity, diversity and inclusion in classrooms and other creative spaces.
