Equity is the voice of professional artists engaging in live performance in English Canada. We are a national association representing almost 6,000 artists working in theatre, opera and dance from coast-to-coast-to-coast. Equity's membership includes performers, directors, choreographers, fight directors, intimacy directors and stage managers. Learn more.

How to become an Equity member?

Becoming a member of Equity is a big step in your career. Membership opens up opportunities and provides certain rights and benefits, but it also means accepting certain responsibilities. Becoming a member at the first available opportunity may or may not be the right choice for you, so make the decision that best serves your interests. Remember, Equity will always be there. IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees)

Labour union representing artists in the US and Canada working in the entertainment industry, including live theatre, motion picture, television production, trade shows, exhibitions, television broadcasting, concerts, and the equipment and construction shops. Learn more.

APASQ (Association des professionnels des arts de la scène du Québec)

The APASQ represents all designers of props, hairstyles, costumes, sets, lighting, sound environments, makeup, and puppets who work in Quebec in the fields of theatre, music, dance, variety shows, lyric theatre, opera, circus, and multidisciplinary performances. Learn more.

Associated Designers of Canada (ADC)

The ADC is a registered National Arts Service Organization founded by designers for designers. The ADC provides advocacy and support to all designers in any discipline and at any stage of their career.
